TACLOBAN - SAMAR.. a traveler's tale

It was November 30th 2010 when cebpac offered a seat sale in observance of Bonifacio Day.. We manage to book a round trip flight for 8 people to Tacloban and it was very lucky of us that 1 of our companions home town is Calbiga,SAMAR..

We arrived at Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport in Tacloban at 5:40 am on Sept 17, 2011

DAY 1 Tacloban Tour....   Airport Arrival at Tacloban...

Waiting for our ride...

After our breakfast.. This is our first stop.. .

Mc Arthur Landing at Red Sea Beach...

 Ice cream at the park.....

Our next Stop.... Sto Nino Shrine...

Infinity chandelier at Imelda's room

Late lunch at San Rafel's Farm...

... Tacloban Tour is over....   Next stop...

our Van driver dropped us at the peak of the bridge about 200 meters from the Tacloban End of the Bridge..

                    ...a walk to remember....

... sure enough, its more than 2kms.....

.....  so hot, tiring and frightening ( as the bridge shakes when heavy vehicles pass by )

..... but the VIEW is great......

Vlad can't decide if she'll walk (tired enough) or   be carried all the way to the other end of the bridge (scared of the waters below and the heights as well)

In the end she manage to walk the 2km bridge  and  cried when we reach the other end of the bridge..

=======   Samar at last .......

After the long and tiring walk... the van was waiting for us just a couple of meters away from the foot of the bridge, and then we head straight to our friends home in Calbiga..

DAY 2 SAMAR Tour.. Basey weaving and Marabut

Vlad and Aldrin playing on "Banig" at Delza's in Basey

We really did not intended to stop & shop here but since we passed by on our way to Marabut, we decided to check - in and it is sure worth the visit.. Chel's Family bought a fair quantity of different items from banig to bags.. I also bought some banig fruit trays as pasalubong , some coin purse and slippers..
And I got 2 Hats for free... 1 for Vlad and 1 for Aldrin

It was already lunch time when we arrived at Caluwayan Island Palm Beach, (well what to expect, we left Cha's place around 9:00am and spent a great deal of time haggling at Delza's)
So we ate our lunch here, enjoyed the beautiful place and dipped into their infinity pool...

DAY 3  Lulugayan Falls, Calbiga Samar

    <-------------         Trekking to Lulugayan Falls

I did not bring Vlad with us this time and left her with Cha's Niece and Nephew coz I thought the road to trek is hard, but I was wrong.. The local government of this town works for the improvement of the place to attract many tourist...
See above pictures the road has trails and even pavements.. The mini bridge as well are made of stone..

Next time I would definitely bring her with me..

LULUGAYAN FALLS Calbiga, Samar

Enjoying Samar's version of Niagara Falls

After a few hours of dipping we decided to go back at Cha's place and pack for tomorrow's flight back to Manila.. I thought Vlad would still be crying when we arrived because I left her to complete strangers but to my surprise, she actually also enjoyed her afternoon attending the neighbor's children's party...

Day 4. Head back to Manila...

We left Cha's place early in the morning right after we had some breakfast though our flight is scheduled at 1:30pm.. We took a passenger van leaving for Tacloban and we waited for Cha at Robinson's Tacloban to kill the remaining time by buying pasalubongs at charito's and playing at WOF..

Around 11:30am we had our early breakfast at KFC and head to Tacloban Airport.

I will sure be back here and I will include a detailed itinerary....   Happy gala everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!
